NightOwl Convenience Store franchise ends summer beach safety program
NightOwl Convenience Store franchises in Queensland spent their summer supporting Surf Life Saving Queensland’s attempts to educate the public on beach safety and prevent the number of incidents on Queensland beaches.
The program visited more than 100 schools from October 2010 to March 2011 teaching approximately 25,000 children about the importance of surf safety and how to stay safe on Queensland beaches.
Over 300 children from Ferny Hills State School were the first to learn about beach safety for summer through this year’s beach safety program educating children about vital aquatic and beach safety information.
The fun and interactive program was taught by experienced volunteer surf lifesavers, focusing on beach and water dangers, flags and signs, body boarding, body surfing, wading, duck diving and beach activities.
NightOwl Convenience Store franchises CEO Andrew Morgan said he was delighted to continue supporting such an important cause. The franchise has been involved in the program since 2009.
“Every year around 4,000 people are saved by surf lifesavers on Queensland beaches and we are proud to be supporting such an important part of our Queensland lifestyle,” Morgan said.
Surf Life Saving Queensland CEO John Brennan said he was grateful to NightOwl Convenience Store franchises for supporting such an important community awareness program.
