Mr Rental sponsors Australian ice racing

White goods Mr Rental Franchising Pty Ltd , has recently signed a sponsorship agreement with Australian Ice Racing (AIR), making the white goods franchise hire network a major sponsor of the national ice racing organisation.

Jim Hewish, President of Australian Ice Racing, said that Mr Rental had made an initial donation to Australian Ice Racing, providing funding that is much needed for the development of the sport in Australia.

“Supporting our developing, sub elite and elite athletes to an international level requires a great deal of funding to allow them to attend training camps and competitions around Australia and overseas,” Mr Hewish said.

“Unfortunately, as one of the smaller sports in Australia, we often fly under the radar of sponsors, and apart from our elite athletes who are supported by the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia, all other athletes are forced to support themselves financially.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Mr Rental and their network of enthusiastic franchisees to our family, and their generosity will go a long way in the development of our athletes to place them among the best short track and long track speed skaters on a global stage,”’ Mr Hewish said.

Alan Payne, General Manager of the white goods hire franchise network said that the Mr Rental network places a great deal of importance in supporting the community, and developing young athletes in their sporting field.

“Australia and New Zealand are great sporting nations, particularly in summer sports such as swimming, rugby and cricket. However, we believe it takes a great deal of courage for young Australians and New Zealanders to choose to do something outside the square, and we would like to help them achieve their sporting aspirations, despite challenges they face such as lack of funding and training on the other side of the world to other nations who participate in ice and winter sports.”

Mr Payne said it is great timing for the Mr Rental appliance hire franchise group to become involved in a winter sport, especially since the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver are just around the corner.

“It will be so exciting to watch our elite short track and long track athletes compete in front of the world, and know that we are now involved in developing more athletes just like them for future World Cups and Olympic Winter Games,” he said.
