Supporting Australian Export Businesses - Export Market Development Grants

Through its Export Market Development Grants (EMDG), the Australian Government offers financial assistance to eligible Australian export businesses. If your export business has internationally promoted intellectual property and know-how, goods and (most) services, inbound tourism or conferences and events held in Australia during 2008/2009 financial year, then you may be able to claim expenses for specific export promotional activities involving:

• registration and insurance of eligible intellectual property rights
• overseas representatives
• marketing consultants
• marketing visits
• communications
• free samples
• trade fairs, seminars and in-store promotions
• promotional literature and advertising
• overseas buyers

MST's Intellectual Property, Technology and Media Team regularly assists clients to protect their intellectual property rights overseas. Our Corporate Advisory Team assists clients to maximise efficiency of their export programs. Many of our clients' businesses may be eligible for EMDG funding, and we encourage you to contact us to discuss how and we may be able to assist you to recoup your costs (including legal costs, where appropriate).

The EMDG is administered by Austrade. Completed applications for the 2008/2009 round of funding must be received by Austrade between 1st July 2009 and 30th November 2009.
