Specialty chicken retail franchise, Lenard’s Pty Ltd , has teamed up with renowned wine writer, taster and enjoyer Ralph Kyte-Powell to produce its first Wine Guide. The guide is set to be released in Lenard’s stores across Australia on August 24.
The guide from the chicken retail franchise has been designed to encourage Australians to explore which wines go with what dishes. The guide has an emphasis on the wide range of products available from the retail chicken franchise group.
According to Mr Kyte-Powell, poultry allows great combinations with wine types across a wide spectrum of Australian and New Zealand wines.
“Those ridiculously rigid old rules about what goes with what are long gone. No longer is it white meat with white wine, red meat with red wine,” he said.
“An old-fashioned Aussie roast chook is great with a good red wine; a Malaysian chicken curry works wonderfully with a chardonnay – You just have to know how to select the right one.
Mr Kyte-Powell continued “Australians drink more wine per head than anyone else in the English-speaking world, and the wine we drink is better than most. Our vineyards provide us with a great range of grape varieties, wine types and stylistic variations, and real quality is available at a very reasonable price.”
Divided into fourteen of the most common wine types available in Australia, each section of the guide demonstrates where the best examples come from and what sort of aromas and flavours to expect from it.
Mr Kyte-Powell recommends several readily available examples of each wine type, chosen for their consistency across vintages, their general availability and their value.
Each section of the guide also features a particular food and wine combination using either a Lenard’s product or a recipe inspired by the chicken retail franchise group. There are also some more general ideas for food matches for each wine style.
Lenard Poulter, founder and director of the chicken retail franchise group said he expects the Wine Guide will be a popular food lover’s companion.
“I’ve been a big fan of Ralph’s columns for many years, and I’m very proud to be working with him on Lenard’s Wine Guide,” he said.
“Our last two cookbooks, Inspirations and MEAT, sold out and we have no doubt the Wine Guide will do the same.”
