Chicken a budget buy in food franchise survey
Franchisees in the specialty chicken retail franchise, Lenard's should be well place to benefit from the current consumer trend which sees chicken as a cost-conscious choice.
According to a survey of nearly 11,000 Australians conducted for the chicken franchise network more than 57 percent of respondents said they were turning away from meats such as beef, pork and lamb, and putting more chicken on the table as times get tougher.
Research by Lenard’s also revealed that throughout the two major supermarket chains across the country, the most commonly charged price per kilo for tray-packed skinless chicken breast is $15.49 per kilo, whereas Lenard’s price per kilo is typically around $8.99 to $9.99 per kilo.
Lenard Poulter, Founder and Executive Director of the fast food franchise said "Chicken is what we do, so we won’t let anyone outdo us. Not on price, quality or range. Not even the big supermarkets,” “Lenard’s has been providing Australian families with a variety of delicious and nutritious products for over 20 years, so we are confident these statistics genuinely reflect the shopping trends we’ve been observing over the years."
According to further survey results, more than nine in 10 (93 per cent) Australians recognised the Lenard’s brand.
