Kwik Kopy franchise targets market

The Kwik Kopy franchise has launched a new printing centre model that will enable potential business owners to purchase a franchise at significantly less cost than a traditional Kwik Kopy centre.

The new digital Kwik Kopy centres will sell all the Kwik Kopy product offerings but may not necessarily produce it all on site.

Kwik Kopy Digital Centres are smaller in size but with a similar external look as existing centres. Internally, the Digital Centres have a more service centre feel, with consultation areas, space for graphic designers to work and a small production area for digital printers and bindery equipment.

“Our new Digital Centres can provide all the design and printing requirements for the small to medium business,” said David Bell, general manager, Kwik Kopy Australia.

“Where our model differs from other print franchises is that all print work will be outsourced to either another Kwik Kopy Centre or to a commercial wholesale printer. All outsourced printing will be done under a Service Level Agreement that documents, among other things, quality, service and delivery levels,” Bell said.

The new Kwik Kopy Digital Centres will allow the business services franchise owner to focus on sales and customer service rather than production.

Matthew Penfold, CEO of Business Franchise Group that operates three franchise systems – Kwik Kopy Australia, SIGNWAVE Australia and Express Personnel Services – said that the last few years had been a time of consolidation for Kwik Kopy.

“With a well established, successful franchise system as large as Kwik Kopy, there are times when franchises change hands, as older members of the group retire or wish to realise their investment,” Penfold said.

“During the last few years we have concentrated on securing the best possible franchisees for our existing stores and embarked on a program called ‘Sales for Profit’, designed to increase the profits made by franchisees.

“We are now focused on expanding the Kwik Kopy system with our new Digital Centres.”

Penfold says there are excellent opportunities for people looking to open a Kwik Kopy Digital Centre in Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland, as well as Melbourne and Sydney.

“Two recent challenges have been finding well trained, professional printers for Kwik Kopy centres, and a strong economy and full employment resulting in less people looking to purchase a franchise.

“With our new Digital Centres our product offer to potential business owners is stronger than ever. We have a strong business model, a lower cost entry and we have removed the challenge caused by the dwindling number of experienced printers,” Penfold said.

Kwik Kopy has 106 centres in Australia. The Business Franchise Group is a $100 million business with 125 franchisees, more than 500 staff and has 50,000 business clients.
