Jas My Waffles crowns inaugural barista champion
Jas My Waffles has crowned long-time employee, Charm, the 2011 barista champion in the Australian Grand Barista Championship, hosted by Danes Gourmet Coffee.
Jas My Waffles dessert franchises exclusively serve Danes Gourmet Coffee to all their customers. Founders Jas and Gil DeLeon have been passionate about offering customers the best coffee experience from taste, presentation and service.
Danes Gourmet Coffee hosts the Australian Grand Barista Championship every year, with Gil being one of the top ten baristas in Australia. This idea had led the waffle franchises to stage a barista challenge for their own team members from their stores.
The Jas My Waffle finalists included Charm, Regine and Pinkie, who had to make three varieties of coffee (a total of 12 cups) in just 10 minutes.
The participants were assessed on technique, appearance and taste, which were judged by the reigning national barista champion and Danes Gourmet Coffee’s head trainer, Nadine Nolan.
All three Jas My Waffle finalists received gold, silver and bronze medallions for their coffee making skills with Charm taking home the Champion’s jacket.
"I am very thankful and grateful for this experience and I hope I get a chance to compete in the Danes Gourmet Coffee Grand Barista Championship in 2012. It was a bit stressful, I take competitions very seriously,” said Charm.
Jas My Waffles are dedicated in providing their customers with the best coffee experience with their exclusive Danes Gourmet Coffee and their pioneering Waffle on a Stick.
