Maori welcome at the Jani-King franchise conference

Auckland recently played host to the Jani-King franchise regional managers conference, where Maoris performed a traditional welcome for regional managers, owners and directors from Australia and New Zealand.

The conference ran for four days at the Stamford Plaza and coincided with the annual franchise awards ceremony in Auckland. Jani-King Auckland regional manager, Steve Philips, says the aim of the conference was to review 2004 and plan for the next year.

“Generally we reflect on our performance from the previous year and use the opportunity to create strategies for the next year,” he says.

Sales and motivational speaker, Richard Gee, and Philip Coetzee, an employment lawyer, were key guest speakers that, Philips says, proved to be a valuable part of the event.

“We also had a session with Martin Rogers from The Rogers Group which concentrated on profiting and best employee attributes based on the McQuaig system and Jani-King’s 2004 staff survey. We discussed the survey in detail and created strategies to improve staff retention and satisfaction within the Jani-King business,” he notes.

“The annual conferences are a key motivating factor to maintaining Jani-King’s success. They enable us to set strategies and in Auckland we discussed and set financial and process goals in a bid to ensure 2005 is a positive year for all regions.”

Auckland also played host to the annual franchise awards ceremony in conjunction with the regional managers event, which recognised winners in a number of categories such as ‘Best Start-Up’, ‘Highest Score in the Training Test’, and ‘Rookie of the Year’.

“These awards are certainly a positive way to acknowledge the Jani-King franchisees who put every effort into their franchised business,” Philips says.

Each region across Australia and New Zealand hosts its own annual franchise awards, with the Australasian regional managers conference held in a different city each year.

The Jani-King cleaning franchise turns over $66 million per annum and has more than 800 franchisees throughout Australia and New Zealand.
