Jani-King franchisee makes a cleen sweep
Cleaning and students aren't an obvious pairing but it's a match made in heaven for Griffith university student and Jani-King franchisee Saira Khan, who achieves a $3000 monthly turnover with minimal time and effort.
"I found It relatively easy to finance the business using a combination of my own savings and a small loan," she admits.
"Next month my business will reach full capacity so I'll be making $4000 per month and still have flexible work hours to allow for maximum study time. It's quite hard to earn that much when you're just starting your career and working for someone else."
Khan says working in the commercial cleaning business provides the flexibility to fit in with her busy lifestyle.
"I've found it's easy to juggle my university studies with my cleaning business because I can choose my own hours and work around my other commitments. I get up at 5am and finish my cleaning at about 9.30am which leaves plenty of time to get to my classes which start about 1pm."
As one of Jani-King's youngest franchisees, Khan believes franchising is a great option for young people to achieve their dream of business ownership sooner.
"Franchising is a great stepping stone for young people to get actively involved in business because you have someone there to help you make the right decisions. When you're young and relatively inexperienced it's important to have that support behind you.
"I was servicing three commercial properties within five weeks of starting my franchise and I now have my eye on future growth. Myl long-term plan is to use the profits from my business to save up for a house."
