TESTIMONIALS
John Harris - In a typical life you get to meet numerous types of people. Some you can see are not going far and that’s ok. Some you could not spark with 200,000 volts and some you can light a cigarette off from twenty metres. I have meet thousands of people in my careers, all types and across all states. Some really stand out and when they approach you for help, you step right in. When I met Lauren, I admired her determination and people skills. She said “One day I am going to franchise my business” and I replied “Good luck let me know if you need a hand”. That day arrived when Lauren asked me to review what she had created. I was so impressed that when Lauren asked me to join her organization, I said yes!
Anyone can have a good idea, there are endless ideas that have become franchises and many of them rely on the leader. Think of the body shop, the juice bars, burger and chicken joints. The leaders like Roddick and Colonel Sanders had certain traits that ensured the on going success of their corporations, sometimes long after they are dead! Lauren has crafted her operation to cover many elements of a good business but the ONE that moved me was that “Hi Ho” was affordable and for anyone.

Hollie Johnson - A friend mentioned I should use my redundancy to buy a franchise and I started looking into the franchises that were available. I knew it needed to be a business that I could run from home, as my resources did not go as far as purchasing premises. I had a chat with Chantel Bleathman – who owned a Hi Ho franchise, and had done so for two years. After hearing how well she was doing in this business, I spoke with the Franchisor - Lauren Mullins - to get further details. After contemplating the scary thought of owning a business, and doubting if I had it in me, and if I would be able to do it on my own, I decided to jump in with both feet!
I started “Hi Ho” in August 2007 and am thrilled I have taken on this challenge - it has been a challenge at times, but I know it is the best thing I have ever done. At two months in I was continually amazed with my achievements. My personal growth has been phenomenal, even being a member of a network like BNI (Business Network International) is something I never thought I would do. I have had my “Hi Ho” franchise for two years. I have three subcontractors and one employee working for me. Between us we do ninety hours a week in commercial and domestic cleaning, we are experts in end of lease and real estate cleaning, which is where I see our future growth. I love being in business for myself and feel secure with the support of the “Hi Ho” Franchise System. I am working towards creating a steady passive income so that I can enjoy the rewards of being a stay at home mum in the future.

Colleen Fellows - Feels she has gone from rags to riches in no time! Colleen had been a subcontractor to Lauren & John since 2004; she made a decision to buy her own franchise and has not looked back. As a casual subbie, Colleen grossed $10k per annum and now turns over in excess of $160k and still building. Even though Colleen is enjoying the full financial rewards of her labors she is also receiving the blessings of being able to employ five girls.
Colleen’s business skills gained through running a farm, plus a small business in soft furnishings have stood her in good stead for her “Hi Ho” business, although she says this is the first time she has really benefited financially for the efforts of business. Colleen listed the benefits to her as a franchisee as being: the ability to run a gardening business in tandem with her cleaning at no extra cost, giving her both flexibility and the opportunity to offer a one stop shop to her clients, a guaranteed income, plus control of her working life, the financial rewards including the passive income she derives, the opportunity to on sell work at 100% to her, plus she can also on-sell franchises with/without work in the future and she has a business to either sell or pass to her children.

Mick & Celine Egan - Knew from the outset that we wanted a business that would out-grow us and enable us to move off the tools and into a management role. From the outset Celine took on the role of vision, training and planning and Mick took on the role of working and managing the day to day operations of a growing the business.
From the outset we employed someone. In the year that we have been franchise owners we have moved from 1 staff member to 10 staff members not including ourselves. Mick still works in the business but not as much as he did when we started. Our goal is that within 3 years of purchasing the business (1 year to go!!) Mick’s role will be marketing & managing the business and not actually working “on the tools”. This franchise opportunity is so much more than just a job. This opportunity can be the beginning of something that can set you up for the rest of your life without you having to be the one who is doing the work all the time. You just have to learn to think BIG!

Chantel Bleathman - Not far on to my franchise Lauren gave me the opportunity to host the Hi Ho Clean & Garden site at the Melbourne Franchise Expo, as she was going to be out of the country. I played a major role in the setup and logistics plus I had input into the programme. After the Expo I went on to sell two franchises, which gave me 60% of the sale purchase price and to receive 60% of the monthly franchise fees from both. I have since purchased the area rights to South Tasmania. Both my sub-franchisees are very successful considering the short time they have been with Hi Ho.
Childcare constraints have made me change my mode of operation in my personal cleaning business, and due to my situation Lauren encouraged me to think outside of the box, I now have a side business within Hi Ho, in quoting, tendering, obtaining and on-selling work, plus staff training to the other franchisees. I cannot imagine being in any other industry that would allow me the freedom to grow to this extent in my business let alone re-invent myself to continually.

Carlene Rushton – In the beginning, I thought “What have I done!” I have teenagers, an invalid husband and I live out the back of nowhere, it took a year for me to find my feet and have my business working the way I wanted. One of the reasons I found it daunting is that - I would look at how everyone else was running their business with lots of employees and lots of commercial work and I would think “Hey my business isn’t running quite that way”. It took me to step back and say “I need my business to work for me and my family on my terms” and now it works as I want it to, which is the beauty of a franchise.
I love domestic cleaning and I also love to work 8.30 to 3.00 and now I can! I find the feeling that I have helped a family have more time together wonderful and the bond I have with so many of my clients is great. Personally I have stepped out of my comfort zone so many times through this new venture that I have forgotten where my comfort zone is. I feel this is definitely a huge plus for me. I have had my business for 2 yrs and I have one subcontractor and we only do domestic cleaning and some spring cleaning with a few doctor’s surgeries. I feel domestic cleaning is the best way for my business and I have developed quite a big referral base for my business, which I feel is an honor to know that people already recognise how fantastic my small team is before we even start. Maybe in the future I will have more subcontractors, but at the moment it works well and meets the needs of myself and my family.

Daniel Morgan – I act on behalf of John & Lauren Mullins – In my dealings with Mr & Mrs Mullins I have found them to be fair and reasonable; at all times protective of the rights of their franchisees and of the Hi Ho Clean & Garden brand. I have been involved in the ongoing activity of Hi Ho and the preparation and continuation of the franchise and disclosure documentation, as the Hi Ho business has expanded and flourished in the past few years.
I have found Mr & Mrs Mullins to be reliable and ever willing to provide technical and operational advice to their franchisees as and when requested. In my view Hi Ho Clean & Garden offers an exciting business opportunity for any prospective franchisee; it allows the freedom and independence of operating their own business, with the potential for growth and expansion, together with the backing, support and encouragement of an enthusiastic and hard working franchisor. – I would be happy to recommend the Hi Ho business to any prospective franchisee.

Dean Waldhauser – I have acted as Lauren’s accountant and business advisor for over 15 years and in that time Lauren has conducted several businesses quite successfully. Lauren is a hard working and astute business person with very strong moral character which she always puts above profit in my experience, sometimes to her detriment financially but admirably her honest convictions have stood her well and been an obvious and noticeable brand characteristic to Lauren’s business clients in the past. Lauren had long held a dream to standardise the business practices which she established over a number of years in her cleaning and gardening business and I am proud of her success in achieving franchise sales to the extent she has done to date and I have no doubt she will continue to sell her brand of business in the future while she sticks to what seams to have been a winning formula for her in the past.
One of Lauren’s strengths has always been to systemise procedures even when she was operating her business as a single operator, which perhaps seemed superfluous to needs at the time, but the habit of doing so has served her well in preparing business plans and franchise models for the Hi Ho Clean & Garden business franchises.

Lauren Mullins - based the business on her unfulfilled domestic needs. The marketability of her chosen business name and logo was the key. With the help of husband John and son Jeremy they officially launched “Hi Ho Clean & Garden” in 2000, with a cry of Hi Ho! - Hi Ho! … It’s off to clean we go! “Hi Ho” was specifically developed as a future franchise opportunity. Lauren felt the need to initially work in the business as well as on it, and had set a plan to do the physical work for no more than two years, stating that “anything beyond that period would deemed failure!” Lauren was able to cease the hands-on work after just six months to concentrate on future growth.
From the outset Lauren’s goal was to franchise the business in a manner that offered a fresh and honest approach to the industry. Lauren was determined that she would only offer an opportunity that anyone could afford to buy into! She has achieved this by only offering that, which she would be prepared to buy in to herself. This includes large areas bounded by the Telstra area phone codes, the ability to work any aspect of either or cleaning and gardening under the one franchise, with only the one fee. The plan included a low monthly fee, with no ongoing % of gross payable. Lauren wanted a non elitist approach, with her franchises to be of a price that would be affordable to all. Franchisees would also have the opportunity to sell both franchises and excess work below them and retain 60% of the purchase price as well as 60% of the monthly fees. Lauren’s theory was correct in that it would foster growth for her business, as well as an ongoing passive income for her franchisees. Lauren offers the opportunity for input in to the service scope and future growth of “Hi Ho”. It is the intention of “Hi Ho” to have a limit of only 57 areas Nationally, with the view of keeping it simple and affordable. A “Hi Ho” branded, cleaning product range for both the domestic and commercial market is high on the “Hi Ho” agenda! Through her accumulation of business experiences Lauren has learned the value of effective communication and actively listening, she believes the success of her “Hi Ho” business depends on it!
Lauren has a passion for people and enjoys assisting the people around her to be the best they can be, and to work on continuous development and improvement. Lauren also thoroughly enjoys the contact she has with the frail and aged, through their family “Hi Ho” work with Helping Hands Community Care. Working their way around Australia in a fully wrapped Winnebago, sporting the “Hi Ho” livery is on the agenda for Lauren and John in 2010, with a view to supporting the “Hi Ho” opportunity at every turn.
