Franchise Legal become first industry specialist law firm to franchise
After Franchise Careers , law firm Franchise Legal has become the first industry specialist law firm in Australia to become a franchise.
Franchise Legal was founded by Ilya Furman in 2009, and welcomed its first franchisee in Sydney, Adams & Partners lawyers, earlier this month.
“At Franchise Legal, I wanted to be in a position to tell my clients that I practice what I preach – I am in the business of franchising,” Ilya says.
Ilya, who has worked in franchising for the past 10 years, is aiming to position Franchise Legal as a ‘new school’ law firm that provides legal advice exclusively to the franchise industry.
“Franchising is about people and relationships and I believe it’s the personal engagement by lawyers in their clients’ business that is missing in the franchising sector,” Ilya says.
With most franchisors looking to expand nationally, Ilya saw the opportunity to partner with experienced franchise lawyers in other states as the most effective way for Franchise Legal to meet these demands.
While Sydney and Melbourne are the top two markets in the country, Franchise Legal plans to grow their network of franchises in Perth and Brisbane over the next 12 months.
Heath Adams of the new Franchise Legal Sydney office is an experienced commercial and franchise lawyer, and explains that his firm became a franchisee of Franchise Legal for a variety of reasons.
Heath says “the ability to partner with an experienced franchise lawyer in Ilya Furman was a major plus. Another plus was the leverage that being a franchisee offers. The reach of our combined organisation means that I can now service a broader range of clients and businesses helping them expand and prosper”.
