Get the best from your franchise team with a qualification in Training and Assessment
Investment in employees with a tailored training scheme is a key element to the successful running of any business or franchise. When choosing a franchise to invest in a key consideration should be the support and training, both initial and ongoing, that is provided.
Many of the successful franchises that are available to buy into in Australia are education and training based. These companies all have a training scheme of their own for franchisees and many also have training available for franchise employees.
When choosing their franchisees many education, coaching and training franchises will be looking for you to have an existing relevant qualification.
In Australia the main recognised training qualifications are AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework) accredited. Most employers will be looking for trainers to hold either a Certificate IV or Diploma in Training and Assessment and some may be looking for HR qualifications or a Degree in teaching.
Many colleges and educational facilities, including TAFE offer these qualifications across a broad spectrum of learning styles including:
- classroom based
- fast track
- online
- distance learning
- self paced
- tutor driven
- combination
TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (which has replaced the old TAA40104 qualification) is the most common required training qualification. It is suitable for trainers, assessors and vocational education teachers, among other roles in the VET (vocational, education and training) sector.
There are no prerequisites to the Certificate IV qualification and it can lead on to studying for the full TAA50104 Diploma in Training and Assessment. The diploma is more in depth and is aimed at independent training providers, senior trainers and similar.
Key components of the courses include:
- planning assessment activities and processes
- assessing competence
- participation in assessment validation
- planning, organising and delivering group-based learning
- planning, organising and facilitating learning in the workplace
- designing and developing learning programs
- using training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
