Delivering community spirit: 100 tonnes of relief transported to bushfire victims by Fastway Couriers
In an outpouring of community spirit, Australian residents and business owners have opened their hearts and wallets to lend a much needed helping hand to the victims of the Victorian bushfires.
In a bid to help co-ordinate relief efforts, Fastway Couriers , Melbourne has transported in excess of 100 tonnes of donated goods from around Australia, free of charge to areas stricken by the tragedy.
“We’ve been flooded with donations of household goods, food, beverages, toiletries and clothing from both local residents and business owners” said Greg Puzzolo, Chief Executive Officer of Fastway Couriers, Melbourne. “The generosity of the Australian community is simply phenomenal.”
“Families and entire communities have been devastated by this tragedy and need relief fast,” said Mr Puzzolo. “At Fastway we’re simply doing our bit to ensure that these much needed items are in the hands of these people as quickly as possible.”
The team at Fastway courier franchise have been staggered by the many stories of incredible generosity that emerged during the days that followed the tragedy. “It’s truly heartwarming” says Mr. Puzzolo. “One lady bought out the entire available stock of bottled water at her local supermarket and another bought a mountain of muesli bars to help sustain the energy levels of the front line firefighters.”
“It’s an honor to be part of this community, and indeed a country that truly rallies around their neighbours in a show of support” says Mr Puzzolo, “We’re delighted that we can be part of this in some small way.”
