From cattle farmer to EmbroidMe franchisee
Cameron McDonald, Adelaide CBD franchise owner explains how he came to be an EmbroidMe franchisee :
“After selling our family farm in Northern NSW near a small village called North Star, I travelled overseas for 18 months before moving to Sydney,” the retail franchise owner said.
“In Sydney I did just about anything from labouring, working in bars and bouncing,” the business services franchise owner recalled.
“From this I evolved into Live Export where I travelled on the vessels to countries such as Egypt and Mexico, looking after the welfare of the livestock. This inturn lead to working for a Live Export company which involved moving to Adelaide.
“During this time I was always on the lookout for a small business of some sort, preferably not food and something that was basically value adding.
“While in Adelaide I began leasing properties with a friend and building up a cattle herd. I knew I wanted to get back on the farm, though needed an off farm income to help that dream come true.
“I visited the Investment and Franchise Expo in Adelaide In May 2006, EmbroideMe seemed to stand out to fit the criteria I had been looking for. After the Expo I showed Georgie the material, the rest is history; we opened on the 1st of October 2006.
“I feel that EmbroideMe has the potential to help me get to my goal of owning a substantial cattle business.
“I opened the business with Georgie, who has spent most of her time in catering/hospitality, and was employed as an Events Manager before we decided to take on EmbroidMe.
“We both feel that with hard work our EmbroidMe store will be a successful business.””
