EFM Health Clubs is a fitness business franchise that began in 1991 and now has over 60 sites across VIC, NSW, QLD, SA and TAS. Our 'niche offering' to our Franchisees is the opportunity to operate a rent free health club (it's covered by the Franchisor) onsite at hospitals and schools throughout Australia.

We’ve successfully blended the best offerings of the gym franchise and personal training franchise models to be an Australian fitness business leader. This is a low cost, high profit margin fitness business and we're actively recruiting motivated new Franchisees to fill upcoming clubs across VIC, NSW, QLD, SA, TAS and now WA.

EFM has three distinct and unique fitness business models:

  1. Onsite health club franchise fitness business at a hospital where we run fitness programs for staff of the hospital, with over 25 of these hospital programs currently operating throughout Australia.
  2. Onsite health club franchise fitness business at a school where we run fitness programs for the school and local community, with over 20 of these school programs currently operating throughout Australia.
  3. Onsite health club franchise fitness business at a corporate organisation – we’re a leading corporate fitness provider and we run corporate fitness programs for staff of the organisation, with over 40 of these corporate programs currently operating throughout Australia.

Service to members:

We’ve successfully blended the offerings of a personal trainer and commercial gym proving members with a unique Personal Fitness Coaching experience that is very affordable. At EFM we aim to create a sustainable, regular exercise habit, and very much back up this promise with our Flexible Monthly Membership structure.

From a business model perspective, the membership structure means EFM is an attractive fitness provider for approximately 80% of past gym users who have not succeeded (on a 12 month contract) at a gym in the past.

In a team sport scenario, a coach provides encouragement, support and is able to distinguish the individual requirements of every member in the team, therefore tailoring training sessions for optimal results. We take the same principals at EFM and add them to our proven training system. The EFM philosophy is that no two members are the same and that every member has differing needs. Therefore EFM members receive a Fitness Coach every session that can tailor your program towards individual goals and provide ongoing support and guidance.

The great thing about EFM membership is that members gain unlimited access to all sessions and Fitness Coaching, and can attend when they want and for as long as they like. This means that EFM provides a time-effective workout for members, another significant membership attractant.

Essentially, EFM is an ideal place for anyone looking at joining a gym or health club. The membership structure is flexible and affordable, the ongoing member support and guidance is unrivalled by commercial gyms, sessions are time-effective and the focus of Fitness Coaches is very much towards member satisfaction and results.

This is highlighted by the active involvement of the Franchise Development Group in decision making – A group of Franchisee and Franchisor elected Franchisees that meet regularly to discuss and develop all facets of the EFM business. EFM Franchisees have entered our system from a range of backgrounds ranging from Casual Fitness Coaches and EFM members, to Personal Trainers and Franchisees in other Franchise systems, to people looking for a career change.
