“Our 20th year will be another big one with Eagle Boys forging ahead and developing 20 new concept stores, as well as 20 Solution Store outlets,” Potter said. According to Potter, 2007 marks the start of an aggressive overseas expansion plan for the company. “Comprehensive research, undertaken over recent months, has shown us, very clearly, the greatest potential for our model is in Asian markets. We are looking at Malaysia first as it has an ideal economic climate and potential.
Opportunities in Singapore, Hong Kong and China will follow quickly,” Potter said. Potter, who was only 23 when he started the business, attributes part of his success to understanding the potential of franchising and the knowledge he gained at Harvard after winning Australian Financial Review Young Business Person of the Year Award.
“My experience at Harvard was invaluable and ensured I established life long business contacts, particularly in franchising. I realised quickly that the format of this business was suited to an owner/operator model and after attending a conference in the United States my belief in franchising was confirmed. I came back to Australia and began the transformation and we’ve never looked back,” Potter said.
