Food retailers unite to raise dough for bushfire victims on Valentine’s Day
A portion of the Valentine’s Day sales of more than 1,000 Donut King , Brumby’s Bakery, Michel’s Patisserie and bb’s cafe outlets across Australia will be donated to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
The four retail brands which are owned by Retail Food Group (RFG) hope to raise more than $100,000 for the appeal, including a donation from RFG itself.
RFG CEO Tony Alford said Donut King fast food franchise, Brumby’s Bakery, Michel’s Patisserie and bb’s cafe franchisees were enthusiastic and keen to raise money to support those in need.
“RFG has a community of over 1,000 franchisees and numerous highly supportive trade partners. When we heard about the Victorian bushfire disaster we immediately recognised the need and took action to determine what we could do to assist,” he said.
“Every Australian who has watched the tragic events in Victoria unfold has felt compelled to participate in lending a helping hand to those affected by the bushfires.
“A portion of the sales of all outlets from Valentine’s Day, Saturday 14 February, will be donated to the appeal.
“It’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to enjoy a donut, coffee, cake, pie or a range of other drinks and treats and know that your purchase will assist both a worthy and needy cause.”
This week, Retail Food Group held its annual conference on the Gold Coast where suppliers also auctioned off goods to raise money for the appeal.
Retail Food Group Limited is a leading Australian retail food brand manager and franchisor. It is the franchisor and intellectual property owner of the Donut King, Michel’s Patisserie, Brumby’s Bakeries and bb’s cafe systems.
