Bathurst Domino’s franchise puts the pedal to the metal
Australia’s most popular V8 Supercar driver Craig Lowndes and his team mate Jamie Whincup will swap the race track for the road when they help the Domino’s Pizza franchise deliver pizzas to Bathurst residents at Mt Panorama this week.
It comes at the start of the 2006 V8 Supercars 1000 Championship Round at the Bathurst Raceway from 5 to 8 October 2006.
On Thursday 5 October 2006 at 2pm, the racing duo will lead a convoy of Domino’s Pizza Land Sharks around Mt Panorama delivering pizzas, signing autographs and distributing pizza franchise delivery driver recruitment forms.
Domino’s Pizza fast food franchise Bathurst owner Jason McGregor said the visit was part of a Domino’s Driver for Drivers campaign designed to recruit additional in-store staff and delivery drivers to keep up with the growing demand for fresh, hot pizza in the area.
“Domino’s Pizza is calling for university students, senior high school students and anyone wanting to earn some extra money to give us a call and see what we can offer,” he said.
“Some people work at Domino’s Pizza simply to help them get through university studies or for a fun summer job, while others discover that Domino’s Pizza offers a lot of career opportunities.”
Pizza franchise CEO Don Meij started his career at Domino’s Pizza as a delivery driver himself while studying to be a high school teacher. After owning his first store in his early twenties, Mr Meij opened a further 17 stores. He later sold these back to the Company and is now CEO of Australia’s first publicly listed pizza maker.
“Domino’s Pizza pays above award wages, additional delivery fees and offers flexible hours to suit students, parents and people with diverse lifestyles,” Mr McGregor said.
“We provide all the necessary training, so no previous qualifications are needed to become a Domino’s Pizza team member. We’re simply looking for enthusiastic and motivated people who want to have fun at work.”
Domino’s Pizza Australia New Zealand Ltd and its franchisees operate 445 stores across Australia and New Zealand, employing more than 11,000 casual and full-time staff and making more than 40 million pizzas each year.
Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup are part of Triple Eight Race Engineering which runs the Team Betta Electrical V8 Supercars, sponsored by Domino’s Pizza.
