Cold Rock Ice Creamery has plans to spread out over Western Australia and open 25 new ice cream franchises within the next two years.

The expansion has made available a number of franchise opportunities in sites including Perth, Albany, Mandurah, Broome, Bunbury, Margaret River and Geraldton.

Stan Gordon, Managing Director of the Melbourne-based Franchise Food Company (FFCo) who owns the ice cream franchise chain said, “Of the almost 100 Cold Rock stores nationwide, we only have two in Western Australia so there is a massive opportunity to grow this market.

“Our current locations at Hillarys and Fremantle are both owned by the same franchisee and consistently perform well amongst the top stores in Australia.

“The market is ripe for increased competition.

“The state’s climate, population growth and strong economy coupled with the unique Cold Rock offering ensures the brand is well positioned to succeed.”

The ice cream franchise is embarking on an aggressive franchise recruitment campaign utilizing print, radio and online advertising to attract the right people to their franchise opportunities.
Cold Rock intends to open 15 of the 25 stores in WA’s capital with the other ten planned for regional centres.

FFCo head of new business, Gordon Bain said, “We are looking for people who possess the desire to operate a successful business, have an excellent credit history, are willing to participate and work within our operating system and are generally fun people.”

He also advised that potential franchisees do not need any experience.

“The quality of the Cold Rock brand has attracted many experienced business operators.

“While some franchisees are happy to settle for a single store, we make every effort to support and encourage franchisees looking to build a multi-store portfolio,” he said.

According to business information analyst IBISWorld, Australia is the third largest consumer of ice cream in the world with each person eating an average of 18 litres a year so new franchisees should have no trouble getting people through the door.

The Cold rock experience is also unrivalled as no other ice cream franchise offers their ‘create-your-own’ menu.
