More Caltex franchises selling ethanol blend petrol
The Caltex franchise has announced that it achieved its year-end target for the number of Caltex supplied service stations selling ethanol blended petrol. The introduction of E10 Unleaded to Caltex sites in the Brisbane area has helped achieve the target.
E10 Unleaded, which contains 10 per cent ethanol blended with regular unleaded petrol, is now sold at over 100 sites in the Caltex automotive franchise network from Canberra to Cairns. This is more than double the number of sites selling E10 Unleaded 6 months ago.
“Caltex is committed to making a significant contribution to the development of a sustainable biofuels industry in Australia,” Des King, managing director and CEO at Caltex, said.
Assuming an average 10 per cent blend in petrol and diesel fuels, King said that at least 3,500 million litres of biofuel blends are targeted for annual production in Australia by 2010 under the Australian Government’s Biofuels Action Plan. This is equivalent to 10 per cent of Australian petrol and diesel demand.
Caltex E10 Unleaded is now available to customers at 11 selected service stations in the Brisbane area. There are currently 49 sites in the Caltex network in Queensland selling E10 Unleaded and 56 in NSW and the ACT.
“The introduction of Caltex’s E10 Unleaded to Brisbane gives our customers a wider choice of fuels,” Mark Burrowes, general manager marketing, Caltex, said. “E10 Unleaded is the choice for the future as it helps to reduce both greenhouse gas emissions and Australia’s reliance on fossil fuels. It is also suitable for most modern and many older vehicles.”
