Cafe2U offers stability, lower risk, says founder of mobile coffee shop franchises

The Cafe2U network of mobile coffee shop franchises started out as a one van operation in Sydney’s North Shore, and since expanding to become one of the largest franchise systems in Australia, owner Andy Simpkin has seen many new franchisees join his business that had long fought personal demons.

They were, he says, commonly held back by;

• misinformation
• unfounded concerns
• personal misgivings
• fear of failure; or
• the alarmist reactions of family and friends.

Another important advantage of the model is that franchisees need only to concentrate on mastering the day-to-day operations of their new business.

“For example, a franchisee is assisted in disciplines such as marketing,” Simpkins offers. “You don’t have to become a marketing guru as that support is integrated into the business model for you.”

He points out that a portion of the fees franchisees pay goes towards marketing expenses, but with the cost shared among all of Cafe2U’s coffee cart franchises, the expense to each individual is minimal.

Personal misgivings associated with any new business are also abated when an individual purchases one of Cafe2U’s mobile coffee shop franchises, Simpkin says, as the franchise system affords them access to valuable support systems.

“For instance we have tackled the primary fear of canvassing for new business by providing the services of a franchisee development manager to work with all our new franchisees in developing new business as soon as they start,” he says.

The economic climate is currently in the midst of a successful turnaround, Simpkin admits, but he also points out that no company can honestly guarantee the future of all employees.

He says that “the only way to secure your own destiny is to take things into your hands. When you are the owner of a franchised business your hard work and efforts become visible in your profits.”
