Ben & Jerry’s launches first ice cream franchise in Australia
Ben & Jerry’s has opened their first ice cream franchise in Australia, which is located on The Concourse in Chatswood, NSW.
In following what has become a tradition for the super premium ice-cream brand, the grand opening was marked by serving up free ice cream for 8 hours. The event was a success with already a queue waiting an hour before the store opened. The queue only got longer as the day progressed.
Ben & Jerry’s grand opening consisted of over 20 employees, head office staff, friends and family all pitching in to help serve up to a whopping 10,500 scoops of ice cream. The Chatswood scoop shop is the seventh ice cream franchise for the US based ice cream brand.
Nick Prohasky, GM of Ben & Jerry’s Franchising, said he was “wrapped with the hype the brand continued generate with each new store launch”.
“The Ben & Jerry’s Australia team is working hard to find suitable franchisees for other sites in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane,” said Prohasky.
“We have a focus on high profile locations, which generate high revenues and are able to trade for long hours.”
Ben & Jerry’s ice cream franchises was founded in 1978 by two old school mates, Ben and Jerry. The ice cream brand came to Australia in 2009 and has been slowly opening scoop shops since then.
Ben & Jerry’s prides itself on controlling its rollout by ensuring all sites and scoop shop operators are perfect matches.
