From His & Her Orthopaedic to Beds for Backs
Inventor and Managing Director, Mario Piraino, initially began as His & Her Orthopaedic Beds in 1997. In 2003, Piraino rebranded his bedding specialist franchise to Beds for Backs and has showed no signs of slowing down.
Mario Piraino believes he has discovered the biggest breakthrough in bedding technology in the past 50 years – a patented spring system that contours the shape of the body and can be adjusted as needed over time.
“We’re confident the beds we have been designing and selling to our customers are far superior to anything available from the major manufacturers, and we’re happy to prove it,” said Piraino.
Piraino is a structural engineer coupled with more than 20 years of retail experience. His background has been a great advantage in setting his bedding business apart from the rest.
“While running a successful furniture business I saw firsthand what and how the major bedding manufacturers were selling and thought that there had to be a better way to offer a more personalised sleep solution to the one-size-fits-all approach of the big brands,” said Piraino.
“If you think about how everybody’s shape and weight distribution differs, it makes sense to make beds that offer different support, so we developed a bed that uses springs which are contoured to the shape of your body and results in better support and ultimately a more healthy night’s sleep.”
Beds for Backs offer more than 386 bed combinations through its range of tailored mattresses and adjustable bases from its seven established locations in Melbourne, one in Sydney and one in Queensland.
Over the past decade, Piraino has travelled the world and attended numerous industry events in order to be at the forefront of bedding design and technology. Piraino plans to extend Beds for Backs store-in-store model throughout Asia and Europe within the next five years.
“Despite all our success, the biggest challenge we now face is showing consumers exactly how sleeping on a bed with the right support and body alignment can positively affect their health after so many years of the leading manufacturers hoodwinking people into believing that a mattress with a uniform flat surface is good for posture.” he said.
Beds for Backs bedding franchises offer personalised bed solutions that cater for women, couples with individual preferences, athletes, teenagers and individuals with specific concerns such as osteoporosis.
