Battery World retail franchise one dollar smoke alarm battery campaign successful again

Battery World  retail franchises have undertaken a one dollar smoke alarm battery campaign over April that has had outstanding results for the second consecutive year.

All of the retail franchise’s 77 stores offered customers 9Volt smoke alarm batteries for one dollar each to coincide with a consumer safety campaign that encourages households to change smoke alarm batteries before winter.

General Manager, John Pascoe said after the campaign’s success in 2010, the retail store thought they would try it again.

“A franchise group like Battery World has the brand recognition that benefits every one of our stores. It capitalises on the fact that there is strength in numbers.

“The campaign has a vital public safety message but it’s also a sound commercial strategy to get customers through the front door,” said Mr Pascoe.

The campaign also benefits the retail franchises’ work with Planet Ark to reduce landfill through recycling old batteries.

“With smoke alarm batteries being replaced in such large numbers, we want to ensure they don’t just end up in landfills.

"Our work with Planet Ark in recycling old batteries is a practical environmental contribution as well as a way to build positive exposure for the Battery World brand,” said Pascoe.
