Your Frequently Asked Questions

How do Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) work?
By dissolving the ionic bonds that hold the dead skin cells together. The cells are then able to very gently be sloughed off to allow new healthy cells to the surface. Alpha-H uses what we believe is the most effective AHA, Glycolic Acid.

Does using Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) long-term have a negative effect on my skin?
Alpha-H womens franchise have blended botanical, herbal and natural vitamins with their AHA's to ensure that the skin is supported and strengthened. Corrective strengths of AHA's and correct pH levels will provide safe and effective exfoliation, without adverse side-effects.

What is Glycolic Acid?
Glycolic Acid is a gentle fruit acid that occurs naturally in sugar cane. It’s a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid used by professional salons in specialised skin renewal therapies. Glycolic Acid works to dissolve the ionic bonds that hold dead skin cells together. The cells are then able to very gently be sloughed off to allow new healthy cells to the surface. When old dead skin cells are removed the appearance of fine lines is dramatically reduced and the skin retains a healthy glow and smoother appearance.

What separates Alpha-H from other skin care products?
Alpha-H’s secret lies in the special key ingredient that is the foundation of all Alpha-H products – Glycolic Acid. Alpha-H health and beauty franchise has a much higher percentage of active ingredients than most of the expensive big name brands in the market. These ingredients get to work as soon as you apply the product – extracting dead skin and impurities and replacing them with essential nutrients. Glycolic Acid is found to be one of the safest and most effective AHA’s, due to the small molecule size. This means it can be absorbed quickly into the skin and work as a delivery vehicle for other active ingredients contained in Alpha-H – ingredients that are designed to restore moisture, elasticity and suppleness to the skin.

Do I need to use sun protection when using Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA)?
It is absolutely necessary to use a 30+ SPF sun protection at any time regardless of whether you are using AHA's as it is now proven that exposure to UVA/B rays is the major cause of premature ageing. It is imperative to use sun protection when using AHA's, as many skin concerns we treat with Alpha-H are directly related to sun exposure ie; premature ageing, sun damage, pigmentation and age spots.

Is tingling normal when using Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA)?
It is quite normal to experience some tingling when you start using an AHA. Once the skin has become accustomed to using more active ingredients this effect will lessen. Alpha-H products contain many soothing & calming ingredients to neutralise this.

When can I expect to see results?
Results may vary from person to person. Generally our customers see an improvement within 5-7 days of commencing with an Alpha-H skin management programme.

Can I use Alpha-H in conjunction with other skin care ranges?
Alpha-H products can be used with other skin care ranges, however we have formulated our range to provide maximum benefits and results with correct pH levels. If they are used in conjunction with other products, we are unable to confidently foretell the outcome.

Which Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) do Alpha-H use?
We use Glycolic Acid in our formulations as it is found to be one of the safest and most effective AHA's, due to the small molecule size. This means it can be absorbed quickly into the skin and work as a delivery vehicle for other active ingredients contained in Alpha-H.

Do I need to scrub or use any other method of exfoliation?
Because Alpha-H products contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids there is no need to use any additional scrubs as the range will effectively remove all dead skin cells and allow new cells to the surface.

Can Alpha-H be used by all ages?
Yes. Alpha-H's range of products offers different concentrations & formulations to treat specific skin types. See your beauty therapist for the best skin management plan.

What are the key ingredients used in Alpha-H products?
Alpha-h product key ingredients used are listed on the key ingredients page.
