Allsafe powers ahead
Australian-owned Allsafe Energy Efficient Products , has experienced a bumper 12 months, culminating in the opening of its new national office in Brisbane.
The building materials franchise company has rolled out six new franchises in the last 18 months, employed an extra 100 staff and doubled average store turnover in the past 12 months, a direct result of the government's economic stimulus packages.
The Solar Homes & Communities Plan and the $4.3 billion Energy Efficient Homes Package have increased the company's business to such a degree that it also plans to open 52 new franchises across Australia and New Zealand, creating 936 new green jobs.
"Each franchise will generate an average of 18 new jobs and will help develop strong local economies through joint purchasing arrangements and business partnerships with other local businesses, as well as sub-suppliers and contract employees," said Allsafe managing director, Sean Cochrane (pictured here on the left).
"Allsafe is a Townsville-based company that is employing new staff daily, promotes triple bottom line sustainability, and is living proof that the Commonwealth Government's stimulus package and climate change policy are creating jobs," said Treasurer, Wayne Swan, who opened the new administration centre in Brisbane.
Some 22,000 home owners nationally have installed a solar hot water system under the Stimulus Plan, with Queensland residents alone installing close to 4,000 units. The HIA predicts that with one million homes still requiring hot water in Queensland, the industry has the potential to create approximately 32,000 jobs over the next 10 years.
