How old is the company and when did you start franchising?
13 years old, first franchisee 12 years ago.
How many franchises do you have?
Four.
How are you going to grow the business in 2008?
Advertising and expo participation.
Where do you expect the business to be in 2010?
15 outlets including overseas licensing of our system
What do you expect from a franchisee?
For them to be ambitious; follow the well-documented A 4 MATHS System and be persistent in local marketing within the exclusive territory.
What are the start-up costs for a franchisee and what working capital should they have?
Start-up costs approximately $50,000 including initial franchise fee; fit-out, start-up education supplies, software. Working capital: $20,000. (plus living costs).
What is the length of agreement?
5 years X 5 years.
What sort of hours will the franchisee have to work to get the business established and how long should that take?
50 hours per week with as much time as possible spent on marketing. Break-even has been shown to take from one to 12 or more months, but more than three months to achieve breakeven is unusual.
What profit can a franchisee reasonably expect to make after two years?
Experience shows this varies dramatically, depending upon individual franchisee's local marketing efforts and interaction with customers.
