According to the Clark Rubber franchise, stage two water restrictions are inevitable in Victoria over the coming month.
However, there is absolutely no need to panic if you’re one of the 27 Clark Rubber stores in Victoria, according to fellow franchisees.
Franchise of the Year, Clark Rubber Toowoomba, is experiencing stage five restrictions in their community, preventing residents from washing their cars, watering their gardens and most importantly to our business, filling their swimming pool.
Retail franchise partner Marlene Scott said she would swap any Victorian store for their stage two restrictions “anytime”.
“Water restrictions are a state of mind – an excuse,” Marlene said.
“If stores believe the restrictions are too hard to deal with and overcome, then it will become too hard. We need to be able to work to adapt our businesses to any and every situation.
“We don’t sell a pool without a solar blanket, which I’ve built into the price of the pool – we advertise “free solar blanket” with the purchase of a pool.”
Marlene said her customers were filling their pools with bore water.
“Customers pay about $125 per 1200 litres. I constantly test the bore water and it is beautiful. There are always options,” Marlene said.
Ian Baldock opened Clark Rubber Dubbo almost six years ago and has experienced drought conditions ever since.
“Despite the obvious drought restrictions, our customers are still buying pools,” Ian said.
“Our average temperature in summer is around 35 degrees, with temperatures souring to 45-46 degrees. There is an obvious market for pools, regardless of the conditions,” Ian said.
