Wangaratta Domino’s franchise receives top pizza honour

In the pizza industry earning a five-star rating is as rare and as prestigious as earning the elusive 3-star Michelin rating for restaurants.

But Domino’s Pizza franchise Wangaratta has won the top honour from the Australian owned and operated, Domino’s Pizza, beating more than 400 stores across Australia and New Zealand.

Domino’s Pizza Australia New Zealand Ltd CEO Don Meij said the Wangaratta store had received Domino’s Pizza’s highest possible operational evaluation report in September, proving that customers consistently receive high quality pizzas.

“Earning a five-star rating has been intentionally made almost impossible to reach,” he said.

“To earn the five-star rating, managers must earn a perfect score on the quality of their pizzas, the standard of their stores and their service during a rigorous surprise evaluation.

“While all our stores score very highly on their performance reviews, it is rare to achieve a perfect ten out of ten score.

“It takes certain people to motivate staff and ensure the store is making great pizza and gives great service. It is a credit to Wangaratta owners Will Lewin, Gavin Deas and store manager Jo Lawrence and her staff that the store has rated so highly.”

Pizza franchise owner Will Lewin said the store’s 30 staff made about 2,000 pizzas each week to cater to the local appetite.

“The store has only been open for nine months, but we’ve got an excellent team here at Wangaratta and they have worked hard to help win this honour,” he said.

“It’s exciting to think that here in Wangaratta, we are raising the bar for stores across the nation.”

The Wangaratta fast food franchise is also a keen benefactor of a number of local community groups and sports teams throughout the area.

“From footy teams, to netball, to badminton … we support a huge range of local community groups, and we’re always on the lookout for more. Locally owned and operated, we strongly believe in giving back to a community that has chosen Domino’s Pizza as their number one pizza provider,” he said.

Mr Lewin said he was currently on the lookout for a squad of additional enthusiastic and motivated Domino’s franchise team members to help him meet growing demand for fresh, hot pizza in the area.

Australian owned and operated, the Domino’s franchise and its franchisees have 443 stores across Australia and New Zealand, employing more than 11,000 casual and full-time staff and making more than 40 million pizzas each year.
