Tracing the roots of the Barbeques Galore retail franchise

The Barbeques Galore franchise was started in the year 1976 in Auburn, New South Wales.

The homewares franchise made a humble beginning by selling barbeques from a backyard and has grown into a large group. The barbeques made by the retail franchise gained wide recognition in all parts of Australia and its first store opened in Sydney in 1977.

The retail franchise ventured into the United States of America in the year 1980 when its first store opened in Los Angeles. In the following year, the homewares franchise acquired its supplier, Cook-On, and started its licensee programme. The retail franchise forayed into various related markets, which included camping equipment, outdoor furniture and tents. A research and development division was set up by the homewares franchise in the year 1985.

The retail franchise continued its acquisitions and was listed on the Australian and New York stock exchanges. In addition to expanding its product portfolio, the homewares franchise opened many more stores. The Barbeques Galore franchise has since been promoting its brand image through a variety of ad campaigns. Presently, the homewares franchise is involved in many more activities in addition to selling barbeques. Some of these include giving barbequing tips to customers.
