The success story of the Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses franchise’s bakery business

The Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses franchise is a family owned fully Australian bakery business with a history of pastry making dating back to the 1800’s. The fast food business was started by the Ferguson and Plarre families who settled in Australia over 100 years ago. The dessert franchise was started separately with Ferguson establishing their business in 1901 and Plarres a year laterin the Northern and Western suburbs of the country.

The fastfood business’s growth made them household names in Melbourne with their pastries and cakes unrivalled in taste and quality. The dessert franchise continued its business through the hard times of the two world wars and the great depression. Ferguson Plarre Bakehouse resulted after the merger of the business in 1980 after considerable refinement in their craft and extensive contributions to making desserts.

Ferguson Plarre Bakehouse is currently run by the fourth and fifth generation of the family members, upholding their forefather’s commitment to quality service and products. The fast food business continues to be famous for its mouth watering desserts, wedding cakes, birthday cakes and award winning Tiddly Oggies and meat pies. With a combined experience of over 200 years, the dessert franchise still reins the pastry cooking business
