Scott Trenberth purchased his Sydney Bathroom Werx franchise in May 2004.
The Sydney region had just been significantly restructured meaning that Scott was the first franchisee technician to operate in Sydney under the Bathroom Werx banner.
“It was pretty daunting being the first guy, but I suppose there has to be a first in ever business,” he said.
Now fully trained in the bathroom restoration franchise and considerably more experienced, Scott powers through jobs in record times.
“I work pretty hard though, so if the sun’s shining and I’ve finished early, I sometimes go to the beach,” Scott said.
“Other times if I’ve knocked over my day’s work early, I get the office to book something else for me if it’s nearby.”
Scott has previously managed a sugar store in New Zealand, trained as a chef, and worked in retail – as well as done a few years of globetrotting which resulted him in meeting his wife.
So, what was the appeal of Bathroom Werx?
Scott sums up: “It’s creative. You get to solve people’s bathroom problems for them and give them a great looking finished product really quickly, so it’s satisfying too.”
“Working in retail means seven days a week and long hours. Bathroom Werx has given me back my life and I am now enjoying my weekends again.
“Being in business with a Bathroom Werx franchise means that I am in business for myself but with a back up of a professional operation behind me.
“Plus, I liked the idea of working for myself, and having control of things.”
