Sweet success is Beard Papa Sweets

The Japanese gave us sushi. Now with the opening of Beard Papa Sweets comes a Japanese sweet sensation "cream puffs described as the 'best in the world."

Beard Papa Sweets, a Japanese gourmet take-away dessert chain, is sweeping the world and is now in Australia. Already its signature sweet - a vanilla cream puff - is developing a cult following.

"We've had a fantastic reaction since opening the stores in Australia,' says David Jordan, Managing Director of Beard Papa Sweets Australia.

"Not only are our products a great sweet sensation but our store concept is very unique in the food and beverage industry. Our products are all Natural - they contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives!

"Our stores are very theatrical. Customers see our staff prepare the desserts literally right in front of them using premium ingredients. Each order is repeated aloud by staff and accompanied by a call of arigato, which means thank you in Japanese. It's like a performance and the customers love it.'

Beard Papa Sweets originated in Osaka, Japan in 1999 and has swept the world with over 300 stores baking cream puffs for thousands of customers throughout Japan, the United States and other parts of Asia.

The first Australian store opened in Brisbane last year followed by Sydney and Perth, and the Melbourne store opened in August. The Grand openings saw hundreds of people queue for up to two hours just to try these amazing desserts.

"We aim to have eight stores operating by the end of the year, "says David. "Our goal is to have 30 Beard Papa Sheets stores operating in Australia in four years. This is achievable because we have a great concept and our products taste so damn good."

The biggest challenge, says David, is cementing brand recognition. "Being only a relatively new brand to Australia it's about getting our name known. Throughout the world our Brand has somewhat of a cult status - that is our aim for here in Australia too."

Beard Papa Sweets business opportunities are available from $250,000 to $320,000 for an exclusive territory, proven business model, an internationally recognised brand, initial and ongoing training, and business and marketing support. “Beard Papa is a very attractive business proposition for people looking for a niche in food and beverage," says Jordan.

It's profitable, our franchise model is simple to follow and it's unique. There is no other gourmet dessert business like as in the market.

The qualities that Beard Papa Sweets look for in franchisees are enthusiasm, passion, and dedication. Previous experience in the food and beverage industry is not necessary, as the franchise model is very structured.

While the cream puffs are the signature dessert of Beard Papa Sweets stores, other desserts on the menu include eclairs, cheesecake sticks and a decadent chocolate fondant.

"Our gourmet range is appealing to customers not only because it tastes delicious but it's also all natural,' says Jordan.

"Our products, particularly the cream puffs, are developing a cult following. We have people literally queuing up for their daily fix.”
