Snap-on builds successful franchise

The Snap-on franchise is the premier manufacturer of high quality tools and equipment.

Since 1920 when parent company Snap-on Incorporated first developed the interchangeable socket, the name of the automotive franchise has been recognised as a world leader in providing the finest quality tools and equipment for the professional automotive technician.

At the same time, Snap-on Incorporated pioneered the idea of direct sales and service to mechanics right at their places of business and offered credit programs enabling them to build their businesses. Snap-on still provides these things today.

Now there are more than 5500 Snap-on franchisees around the world, each operating from a custom built mobile store that stocks some of the 16,000 different tools available from Snap-on. Snap-on franchisees have an exclusive territory that has been surveyed for potential customers. Being mobile, franchisees do not rely on customers coming to them, they visit their customers providing regular, personal, high quality service. Consequently a Snap-on franchise does not have the burden of leasing expensive commercial premises, leading Fortune Magazine to comment, “A Snap-on display van is one of the most productive retail spaces in the world.”

A Snap-on franchise has no ongoing franchise fees linked to turnover, or advertising levies. Why? Because Snap-on’s success isn’t built on franchise fees. Snap-on is in the same business as its franchisees – selling tools and equipment. That is why there is a careful assessment program before a franchise is offered, followed by extensive training including a week at the Snap-on Training Centre in Dallas, USA.

A Snap-on franchisee does not need any mechanical background. People skills, a good work ethic and a determination to succeed are among the essential attributes common to Snap-on’s most successful franchisees.

The Australia/New Zealand subsidiary was opened in 1988 and today the Sydney-based head office and distribution centre supports more than 155 franchisees. Franchise opportunities are available nationally and enquires are welcomed.
