Oporto franchise expansion in Queensland

The Oporto franchise has continued its expansion into the Queensland market with the opening of its sixth Queensland franchise in Garden City, Mt Gravatt.

During the past 12 months the fast food franchise has located stores at Wintergarden Mall in Brisbane, the Riverwalk precinct on the Sunshine Coast, Chermside Westfield, Carindale Westfield, and the Food Court at Broadbeach.

In 1986 Oporto founder, Antonio Cerqueira, opened the first Oporto restaurant in North Bondi, Sydney. Its signature Bondi Burger product is now served to over nine million customers each year.

The company first franchised in 1995, and today has 72 stores across Australia and New Zealand, with plans for a further 20 openings in the next 12 months.

The next phase of expansion will focus on the UK and US, with plans to have 150 stores in Australia and NZ by 2007. The first store opening in the UK is planned for the next six months.
