Movenpick Ice Cream: Frequently Asked Questions

What does ALL NATURAL mean?
It means that we choose only nature’s best parts. Only natural ingredients that are carefully selected from the world’s best crops are processed in a traditional way into Movenpick restaurant and cafe franchise ice creams.

How come the taste of Mövenpick Raspberry & Strawberry is so refined, so fruity and so creamy?
Our Délices de Fruit Raspberry & Strawberry is prepared with 54% raspberry purée (this inimitable taste cannot be obtained with fruit concentrate), which also explains its irresistibly creamy consistency.

Mövenpick Vanilla Dream has a particular, intense vanilla taste. Is it obtained in a natural way?
For our product we only use “Bourbon” vanilla from Madagascar. Vanilla pods are carefully selected and only picked when fully ripe, so that their distinctive flavour can develop to its best.

How to serve boxed ice cream?
The product must be kept at a maximum temperature of –18°C (or less). In order to scoop an ice cream ball, the product can be raised to a temperature between –14°C and –12°C. After each move, the scooper has to be rinsed with running warm water, then wiped with an appropriate towel so that drops won’t fall and crystallise on the product. After each serving, cover the box with its original lid in order to protect the product from smells and avoid crystallisation of condensed water. Replace the box at –18°C as soon as possible!!!

Why did the Mövenpick ice cream franchise products become more expensive?

Commodity prices

Over the last few months, short supply and rapidly rising demand have driven an unprecedented rise in commodity prices, which even our suppliers are no longer able to withstand. Despite cutting costs and carefully costing our products, we have consequently also been forced to revise our price structure to match the higher procurement prices.

Recipe philosophy
In line with the Mövenpick Ice Cream recipe philosophy of using only top quality, natural ingredients, our ice cream is particularly affected by price rises in areas like milk and cream, cocoa and fruit. Our consistent premium positioning coupled with the outstanding "100% natural" product quality do not allow us to make any compromises in terms of the quality of the ingredients we use.

Energy prices and levy on heavy goods
Higher energy prices and the levy on heavy goods in vehicles in Switzerland have also had an impact on transport, packaging and production costs.

All of these reasons put together have forced us to raise our cost prices for retailers by an average of 4.8%. We have no influence over the structuring of retail prices, as these are set by the retail trade.

Our desire is to continue taking you away on voyages of sensory discovery into the future, and we are doing everything we can to maintain high standards in terms of our quality and innovation. Our new Création line, new flavours like White Chocolate, Nougat de Montélimar, Pineapple & Pineapple or Plaisir de Yoghourt Banana, offer you the very best in ice-cold indulgence.
