The Mortgage Choice franchise, Australia’s leading mortgage broker, was excited to attend the Annesley College Solar Challenge Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
The dinner successfully launched the college’s all-girl team entry into the World Solar Challenge (WSC), an alternative energy fuelled road trip race that runs from Darwin to Adelaide from 21 to 28 October 2007. The financial services franchise is the main sponsor of the team.
The unveiling of the Holden-donated Annesley’s Challenge car, branded with the Mortgage Choice mascot, Choosey the Beagle, her pawprints and the new Mortgage Choice phone number was also a feature of the event.
Mortgage Choice Managing Director, Paul Lahiff said the dinner was a delight to attend, and served to strengthen the bond between Annesley College students, staff, alumni and Mortgage Choice.
“Mortgage Choice is delighted to be naming rights sponsor of the Annesley College entry in the World Solar Challenge, and it was fantastic to see so many of the dinner attendees excited about Annesley’s involvement,” he said.
“I believe there is great synergy between what Mortgage Choice endeavours to achieve as a good corporate citizen and what Annesley is endeavouring to achieve as a leading and inspirational educator of highly talented young women. Both organisations aspire to be the best at what they do.
“At a time when climate change and the impact of greenhouse gases are clearly on the political and social agenda and rising in importance, this event will raise the world's awareness of what can be achieved with alternative sources of energy.
“A conglomeration of entries from around the world will take part, all are contributing to the search for sustainable alternative sources of energy, and for that, all of us should applaud.
Founder of the WSC, Hans Tholstrup, current WSC director, Chris Selwood, and Mr Lahiff all gave stirring speeches on the night.
Students Tessa Laing, Zoe Komazek, Laura Hutchenson and Nadia Komazek performed a well-received musical and vocal piece.
Mortgage Choice looks forward to increasing its involvement in Annesley’s Challenge as the WSC commencement date draws closer.
