Melbourne lad and merchandise manager of the Bedshed franchise for the past five years, Stuart Jones can pick a good bed, even if he can’t pick the AFL team to barrack for.
The Bedshed franchise merchandise manager and his wife, Alida, regularly change their bedroom décor according to trends, something Stuart says is an Australia-wide phenomenon.
Once, beds and manchester were “grudge buys” – purchases you made reluctantly because you needed to. According to the manchester franchise manager, these days, people are spending more and often on their bedrooms.
“They’re a fashion part of the home,” he said.
Alida said she fell in love with their Federation-style Carine home before they bought it because of the pretty floral wallpaper in the high-ceilinged main bedroom.
Despite wallpaper being the “in” thing again, she said she’s been there, done that, and likes her new chocolatey room. They plan to pull out the carpet in a few weeks and lay a timber floor in a wood that is paler than their jarrah bedroom suite
While Stuart might take to his bed and watch the game, it’s also a special place for Alida. Every morning at 6.30 Stuart brings her a cup of tea to ensure a gentle start to her teaching day.
