Sean Hamilton, Toowoomba and Gatton Totalspan franchise partner, has created such a strong presence in the local area for the Totalspan brand that he says he is often introduced to people as “Sean from Totalspan”.
The home services franchise sponsors the Coolaroo AFL club, with the logo emblazoning T shirts, jackets and dressing gowns for players on the bench.
“We’ve won the last five grand finals,” says the building franchise partner, who used to play for the club and is this year’s assistant senior coach.
The Totalspan franchise has sponsored the team for six years. Before regulations forbade logos on game balls, Sean says, “On a Monday in the sports section of the paper, being the top team there’d be photos of our game and quite often the football would be displayed with the Totalspan logo on it.”
The home services franchise used a range of innovative ways to display its signage, including coasters, pens, notepads, stubby holders and even the company vehicles.
“They are done up like V8 race cars,” says Sean. “And we used a pearl paint that changes colour depending on the light. In some lights it looks blue and in another light it might look red. So it looks like we’ve got more vehicles than we have.”
Getting flagged down and asked to quote on a shed is one result of the vehicle signage for the building franchise.
“And a fortnight ago I got pulled over by a policeman,” Sean explains. “He said to me, ‘I just wanted to get a closer look at your car’!”
Giving back to the community is high on Sean’s priority list and the Totalspan franchise supports local charities like Drug Arm and Queensland Police Citizens’ Youth Clubs.
“It’s nice to have people come and spend their money with you,” Sean concludes, “but I think you reap what you sow. It’s nice to give something back, to help out in the community.”
