The Southern Hemisphere’s largest
hairdressing franchise network,
Just Cuts, today announces their 2008 Franchise of the Year – Just Cuts Woden. Franchise owners, John and Monica Longmire are thrilled to have won the award which has been running for two years.
The award is based on salon productivity, mystery shopper results and the fulfilment of reports to head office. The franchise owner must have been in the Just Cuts system for a minimum of 12 months.
“This award recognises our Woden salon to be the best Just Cuts
retail franchise in all of Australia. It’s particularly rewarding to be recognised by the franchisor as it’s judged on our ability to run the salon to the franchisor’s highest standards. We set new goals at the beginning of the 2008 financial year and we’ve exceeded much higher than the initial benchmark,” says Monica Longmire.
"Winning the Just Cuts franchise of the year award was a complete shock to us. To be a finalist in the awards is an honour but to win is a great accomplishment. Credit must go to our amazing stylists who provide the superb service that our
hair care franchise is renowned for,” says John Longmire.
John and Monica are not new to the franchising world. Monica was appointed as John’s successor on the Australian Competition Consumers Commission’s Franchising Consultative Panel and their efforts have been recognised by the Franchise Council of Australia (FCA). In 1998 and 1999 they won the FCA NSW Franchise of the Year award and in 1999 they won the FCA Australian Franchise of the Year award, competing against thousands of other franchises nationally. In 2004, Monica won the FCA Women in Franchising award and was the ACT Telstra Businesswoman of the Year. As prestigious as these awards are, Monica and John agree that winning Just Cuts Franchise Business of the Year is their best achievement yet.
Monica and John have been involved with Just Cuts since 1994, purchasing the first Just Cuts salon to be located outside the Sydney metropolitan area. They have owned five salons over the past 14 years and currently own Just Cuts Woden and Belconnen. Their plans are to expand Just Cuts’ presence in Canberra and are endeavouring to open more salons over the next two years.
“We encourage all of our stylists to treat others as they would like to be treated. This approached has helped us to grow and reach new levels. We have exceptionally low staff turnover and provide continual training courses and incentives as well as the odd party here and there, of course!” says John Longmire.
