Visitors to Melbourne Airport can now benefit from a better bite with the opening of a
Healthy Habits outlet. The 26th store in the
sandwich bar chain is sited at the International Departures terminal. Founder Katherine Sampson was thrilled by the tender win which saw the 15 year old business outdo more traditional take-away stores.
"Melbourne Airport was only a dream 12 months ago. I never believed that my little business would ever win a national tender. We put in our submission and had to wait two months for an answer. I remember ringing the airport to find out if we'd even been considered and when they told me we won, I couldn't believe it! It's still surreal. Although the budget has blown out by $100k so far, we think it will be well worth the investment. Opening our new Melbourne Airport store will open up Healthy Habits to the wider community. It will also introduce us to the interstate market and international market."
Sampson is planning to secure additional sites at airports across Australia, good news for the thousands of airport workers requesting healthier onsite food options.
