Flight experience leisure and entertainment franchise located at Sydney's Darling Harbour is a flight simulator that allows you to see what your potential is without any previous flying experience, from the pilot’s seat. The simulator is used by airlines for pilot evaluation and training.
The flight simulator is a full-size replica cockpit of a Boeing 737-800. The fixed base simulator acts much like a video game, responding to movement, and has 180° graphics.
This is a full-size commercial jet simulator which has CAA certification, and it is the first time the Australian general public has had access to such a machine. The simulator operates in real time.
Flight Experience plan to take the
adventure franchise global. Several simulators are operating in New Zealand, and others will be open in Melbourne and Brisbane later this year.
On arrival at check-in, your flight is listed on a departure board. You will enter the simulator with your instructor. Dependent on the length of your flight voucher (30/60 minutes), you may choose from many domestic or international routes, and use the same charts and maps applied by commercial airlines!
Pre-flight checks are in order upon settling in, including switching on overhead panels, engines and injecting fuel into the engines. You will then learn how to use the steering wheel in order to manoeuvre the aircraft once in the air. Use the throttle, take the landing gear up and you're away.
A 30 minute trip in the simulator would be a scenic flight over Sydney, whereas a one-hour flight may take you from Sydney to Melbourne or Brisbane, or from Auckland to Christchurch.
Air Traffic Control keeps you in touch for clearance, pushback, taxi and take-off. Once in the sky you can switch to auto-pilot or stay with manual. Flight details and weather can be delivered to your cabin crew, and then prepare for landing with Air Traffic Control assistance!
Flight Experience costs $235 for one hour or $145 for a 30-minute flight. A DVD recording of your flight is available for an additional $15.
