Clark Rubber franchising in retail sector

The Clark Rubber franchise is a proud Australian brand icon which uses the system of franchising because of its efficiency in delivering the interactive support and structure needed by everyone when they begin in, and grow their own business.

However like most successful businesses, the retail franchise had a modest beginning. In 1946, two gentlemen Charlesworth & Clark formed a partnership and established Clark Matting & Rubber. The brand grew considerably and was listed as a public company in 1951 and was sold to the Adsteam Group in 1982. By 1993, the brands were owned by Vita Pacific, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Dunlop.

Eventually acquiring the brand from Vita Pacific and capitalising on the awareness and strength of the Clark Rubber name, Chris Malcolm chose the franchising concept of doing business as the way forward to re-launch Clark Rubber’s great brand heritage in 1994 with the first store under this new franchise model opening in Nunawading in 1995. In 1998 Clark Rubber celebrated the opening of its 50th store and in 1999 Clark Franchising won the Franchise Council of Australia’s national Franchise System of the Year Award for entry capital over $200,000 and in 2003 was a finalist in the category "Retail and Business to Business 21 - 100 outlets"

Because of the strong heritage and modern presentation of the Clark Rubber brand, Clark Rubber stands out in a crowded retail market. This strong brand coupled with a commitment to specialised training and consumer marketing programs show that Clark Rubber is focused on what really matters – customers!

Clark Rubber Franchising is structured to support our hard working franchisees, both existing and potential. Behind every franchisee is a professional team of support personnel specialising in all aspects of the Clark Rubber system. This partnership is based upon a franchise system in which both parties commit to work towards building a successful business. Clark Rubber’s success is linked with your success.

In addition to regular State meetings, Clark Rubber Franchisees from every state come together at the annual conference to share experiences, develop new skills, meet new people, provide feedback and enjoy the pleasure of getting together.

Today Clark Rubber Franchising is the franchising system behind the growing Clark Rubber chain of stores throughout Australia.
