WHEN Franchise Council of Australia Hall of Fame inductee Chris Malcolm was re-elected to the FCA Board at the request of members, he was committed to reviewing the organisation’s awards program.
With the support of the FCA Board, Chris was asked to review and improve the awards, broadening the opportunity for all members in the most inclusive manner possible.
The premier showcase of excellence in franchising awards is the most prestigious program in the franchise calendar.
The
Clark Rubber retail franchise Managing Director, together with the committed assistance of Steve Hansen (Chooks Fresh and Tasty) and support of the FCA Board, has been able to initiate a number of significant changes to the awards program over the past two years.
A former FCA Chairman and previous recipient of the “Best Franchise System in Australia”, Mr Malcolm's focus was to showcase as many Australian franchise businesses and their operators as possible at the awards.
As a result, the FCA has introduced new award categories, including an innovation award, supporting women in franchising locally and nationally, as well as reintroducing three categories of awards with winners for each category.
“It is also wonderful to see that the FCA Board has supported and developed an award of inclusiveness which will showcase three Supplier of the Year categories. These categories include:
- Professional – Legal and Accounting Organisations,
- Service – Software, Banking, Financial Advisors, Marketing Agencies etc,
- Consulting – HR, Recruitment and Training and franchise specific.
Mr Malcolm has also recently pioneered an FCA change where the awards judging panel is independent of day to day franchising, providing complete transparency to the awards. The panel will have a balanced make-up with competencies from the media, business and legal industries that can make objective decisions in the selections of winners.
“The Franchising Awards are the pinnacle in franchising and having won the major award in 2006/07, I am well aware of the outstanding business-changing impacts they can have on your business,” Mr Malcolm said.
“The FCA awards are highly respected within the industry and I believe the changes we have been able to introduce as a team over the past few years add to their (the awards) credibility.
The annual Excellence in Franchising Awards will be held at the National Franchise Convention Gala Dinner on October 18 in Sydney.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
- Franchisor of the Year
- Franchisee of the Year
- Woman of the Year
- Media Campaign of the Year
- Innovation Award Franchise Exporter of the Year
- Emerging Franchise System of the Year
- Supplier of the Year.
Nominations for the awards are now open and everyone is encouraged to look at the categories and criteria (these can be found on the FCA website at www.franchise.org.au) and enter this prestigious award.
