Award Group Australia CEO Deb Shugg is tired of hearing jokes about business consultants, but agrees they’re often based on truth.
“Jokes like, ‘hiring consultants to conduct studies can be an excellent means of turning problems into gold - your problems into their gold’, are humorous and unfortunately true in the majority of cases,” Shugg said.
“Ordinarily, clients get lumped with a business plan, the quality of which can vary dramatically, and a sizeable bill for the time spent by the consultant.
“Many consultants then walk away and wipe their hands of the client.”
But Shugg believes a success-based fee approach addresses these concerns, since the consultant’s success is tied to the results generated for clients.
“Award
Business Consultants are different since we’re prepared to say to clients, ‘How about paying us based on the success of the plan?’
“We also help guide clients throughout the implementation to ensure each plan’s full potential is realised.” Shugg said, “Unless the adviser has a vested interest in the outcome of the plan, I believe many adopt an all-care-but-no-responsibility approach.
“Our consultants share their accounting-based expertise to develop business plans and strategies that aim to yield impressive results.
“That way, everybody wins,” Shugg said.
