Franchisees Roy and Rose Brownsey have scored a hat trick, scooping the Annual
Autobarn Awards, taking out both the National and, for the third year running, State Franchisee of the Year Award for 2006/2007. The Mackay locals were presented with their awards at a black tie event at Melbourne's Sofitel. "The awards remind you of what you've got to keep doing to stay on top," Roy Brownsey noted, citing loyalty to suppliers and unquestionable customer service in addition to surrounding the business with great staff as key to their success.
"It's important that our team is recognised because without them we wouldn't have a business." Other State Award winners were Autobarn Preston in Victoria and Autobarn Maitland in NSW. Autobarn Rookie of the Year was awarded to MacGregor in Queensland. Maitland franchisee Barry Hill was later awarded NSW Retail Franchisee of the Year by the Australian Retailers Association at a gala dinner in Sydney. He has successfully implemented initiatives such as hassle-free customer returns, a customer order program, and a range of local area marketing activities that have contributed to the success of his business.
