Chris Taylor, founder of
Aussie Pooch Mobile, said it is a woman’s caring nature as well as good organizational and communication skills that make them such a valued part of her franchise business.
“Overall we are 60-70 per cent dominated by women. At one point it was as high as 85 per cent. Women care and they are able to show that in our business,” Taylor said. According to Taylor, the biggest thing women entering franchising lack is belief in her own success.
“I think women shouldn’t be too scared to try something new and shouldn’t be put off. They should stand up and be noticed because it is amazing what you can do when you give something a go,” Taylor said.
Considering Taylor was only 21 years old when she started Aussie Pooch Mobile in 1991, she has faced a lot of skepticism but says the one thing that got her through was a good support network. Taylor said a supportive family and a good professional network are essential.
“Create a network of support. Don’t just rely on the business model to do that for you and always try and maintain balance,” Taylor said.
